Ordinary Time
Open your eyes.
Open your ears.
Open your heart.
Trust Jesus to lead the way.
You who are faithful to the Lord, sing praises to him; give thanks to his holy name!
His anger lasts for only a second, but his favor lasts a lifetime.
Weeping may stay all night, but by morning, joy!
Psalm 30:4-5
Gratitude is a practice of being present, being thankful for what is right now. Practice gratitude today by praising God. Give thanks for something no matter how small, and see how your heart opens to the world around you.
When we get angry or stay angry for too long, our hearts close off and our eyes and ears shut off to the world around us. Grief can bring forth anger but can also bring forth gratitude. Maybe you find yourself sad or grieving today. Grief can shatter our hearts or break our hearts open. Gratitude is a doorway that leads us right back into the world that breaks our hearts and makes us angry.
Today, ask God to help keep your heart open. Give thanks. Express gratitude and experience abundant joy.

Creator God, help me slow down and take time to be grateful for what I have today.
When I get upset, angry, or sad, keep my heart open.
Help me walk through the door of gratitude.
Amen.
See.
Listen.
Feel the love of Christ pulse through your heart.
