Ordinary Time

Pause

Take a deep breath right now.

Notice one thing you see,
one thing you hear,
one thing your body is touching.

You are here in this place. God is here with you, too.

Listen

God has revealed these things to us through the Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, including the depths of God. Who knows a person’s depths except their own spirit that lives in them? In the same way, no one has known the depths of God except God’s Spirit. We haven’t received the world’s spirit but God’s Spirit so that we can know the things given to us by God.

1 Corinthians 2:10-12

Think

Whether we’re 16 or 60 years old, we’re always on a journey of self-discovery. What kind of person am I, and what kind of person do I want to be? What kinds of things am I good at? How can I be more fully ME? There are lots of different ways to learn about ourselves: we often look to our favorite teachers or ministers for guidance about how to be our best selves. Sometimes we seek guidance in the cool images we see on Instagram or TikTok (“Oooh how can I be like THAT?”). Often, we even learn from our mistakes.

While there are many paths to self-discovery, we are encouraged to seek God’s Spirit, for it is the Spirit that knows us fully. God’s Spirit knows us to our innermost depths.

Have you ever asked the Spirit to show you your true self? Have you ever asked the Spirit to show you who God is? You are beautiful and worth getting to know fully.

Pray

Wise Spirit, will you show me my true self today? I hear I’m beautiful; will you show me?

And, will you show me who God is today, and where I intersect with God?

Amen.

Go

As you go today, remember that God is ready to share wisdom.

Reach out your hands and accept it.
