Ordinary Time

Pause

When we submit our lives to what we read in Scripture, we find that we are not being led to see God in our stories but our stories in God’s. God is the larger context and plot in which our stories find themselves.

Eugene Peterson in Eat This Book (2006)

Listen

Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us; glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus for all generations, forever and always. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

Think

Do you know someone who has perfected the art of the humble brag? One of my favorites from Twitter is, “I just stepped on gum. Who spits gum out on red carpet?” Society is built on glory-seeking. Truth is, most of us seek glory too, right? We want more followers on socials. We like it when we get pats on the back or are in the know.

The story of God sheds light and clarity on the one true source of all Glory. God is the author and source of all things good, and Christ was the best example of one who did not seek fame or fortune. May we remember the TRUE story of scripture and remind ourselves where all glory and honor reside – in the name that is above every name – Jesus Christ, our Lord!

John Uldrick

Pray

Holy God, Risen Christ, Holy Spirit, three in one, you are above all and your name is more majestic than every other name. Help me honor and glorify you with all I do today. Show yourself to the world and receive the glory rightly deserved. Amen.

Go

Father, write yourself upon my heart and life – that I may be an open book about you, so that others might read of your unending love on every page. In the name of Jesus, the author of our faith. Amen
