Back to School

Pause

Take a deep breath. A new school year brings expectations and challenges, but also new opportunities. Before you start thinking about everything you have to do, remember that God is with you. Let God’s presence calm your worries and open your heart to hear God’s voice.

Listen

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “All who want to come after me must say no to themselves, take up their cross, and follow me. All who want to save their lives will lose them. But all who lose their lives because of me will find them.”

Matthew 16:24-25

Think

Following Jesus isn’t a decision we make just once. It’s a choice we make every day, especially when we have to decide between what’s easy and what’s right. Jesus invites us to take up our cross. That also means thinking of others, acting with honesty, and remaining true to our values, even when it’s not easy.

As this new school year begins, remember that following Jesus happens in the classroom, in the hallways, with your friends and family, at work, and in every decision you make throughout your day. Every choice, no matter how small it may seem, is an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love, justice, and compassion. Following Jesus doesn’t mean being perfect, but rather being willing to learn from him and allowing him to transform the way we live. With God’s help, we can be a light of hope and a source of inspiration to those around us.

Question to Ponder:

How can you reflect Jesus’ love and teachings in a decision you need to make this week?

Pray

Jesus, I want to follow you every day. Give me the courage to do the right thing. May my life be a reflection of your love. Amen.

Go

Go forth with a willingness to do good. May your words, decisions, and actions reflect God’s love. Every day offers an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.
