Ordinary Time
In love, we discover that God is always present. When love dwells in your heart, the image of God becomes visible in you.
God made the nations so they would seek him, perhaps even reach out to him and find him. In fact, God isn’t far away from any of us. In God we live, move, and exist. As some of your own poets said, “We are his offspring.”
Acts 17:27-28
My wife gave her nephew a box of science experiments. Watching him mix, observe, and be amazed reminded me of something: over time, we lose the capacity for wonder, and life can become routine. Something similar happens with our faith. Sometimes we seek God as if “reaching,” as if God were a project or a difficult experiment. But the Bible reminds us that God is not far away.
In God we live, move, and exist. God is already here, present in every moment. Perhaps the secret is not to look harder, but to look better, to pay more attention. To look and find God at work in our decisions, processes, needs, and in the proximity of our neighbors. To turn on the light of the heart and recognize God in the simple: in the embrace of our loved ones, in nature, in friendship, in a sincere conversation. Today, remember: God is not a distant mystery. God is near, with you, always.

Question to Ponder:
In what moments have you felt that God was closer than you imagined?
God, help me to see you, not reaching, but from the reality that you are close to me. Amen.
Set aside a few minutes to be in silence before God. Then go and demonstrate God’s presence with a concrete gesture of kindness.
