I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created.

Think

Several years ago, a girl mistakenly used Gorilla Glue instead of a hair care product. Needless to say, she was in a sticky situation—that Gorilla Glue was not coming out. She even went to the hospital, where they tried all sorts of remedies. Each strand of hair was bonded together and inseparable. What was an awful situation for her can be a reminder for us: like those strands of hair that could not be separated because of the Gorilla Glue, “nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38).

Unlike the glue in the girl’s hair, God’s love is good and hopeful. If we seek God, there is nothing that can separate us from God’s care. We are sure to make mistakes. Whether it’s Gorilla Glue or lying or any other way we may mess up, no mistake we have made or will ever make has the power or ability to hinder how much God loves and cherishes us. Full stop.

Caring God, thank you for never leaving me. Help me to understand that no matter what I do or experience, you will always love me. Amen.

Take a few minutes to intentionally seek God in a way that makes sense for you. This could look like journaling, exploring nature, reading scripture, or spending time with friends.
