When I was in middle school, Silly Bandz were all the rage. Silly Bandz are rubber bracelets in the shape of things like animals, foods, and random objects like microphones. Among these bracelets were special/collector’s shapes. I remember people trading their entire collections for one of those special Silly Bandz. This is what it should be like when we consider what is at hand with the kin-dom of God: trading all our earthly desires for God’s goodness.

When we think about how precious the kin-dom of God is, we recognize the treasure that we have been given. Though we did not realize it at first, through grace, we find joy. As we think about the kin-dom of God, let us remember with joy what has been promised to us, through Christ: life eternal!

What does the kin-dom of God mean to you? Write a short parable like the ones Jesus used to teach those around him.

Dear God, thank you for loving me. Thank you for your goodness and grace. Help me to see your kin-dom as a treasure that cannot be earned. Amen.

Take a few minutes to intentionally seek God in a way that makes sense for you. This could look like journaling, exploring nature, reading scripture, or spending time with friends.
