Ordinary Time
Christ loves us, has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood, and has made us a kingdom.
He has made us priests in the service of God.
From Revelation 1:5-6
Pilate went back into the palace. He summoned Jesus and asked, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
Jesus answered, “Do you say this on your own or have others spoken to you about me?”
John 18:33-34
I get anxious introducing myself in front of strangers, whether it’s the first day of school, a new job, or starting a conversation with someone. In these cases, I always think of what not to say and do so as not to make a bad impression. Perhaps I am one of those who think that there is no second chance to make a good impression.
Jesus also dealt with the impressions of strangers. Imagine being accused of being an evildoer, when he was doing good. Jesus didn’t care to deny the accusations, but he did care to know what Pilate thought.
When it comes to relating to the Son of God, the impression of others is put aside. No matter who you are, where you come from, what role you play, or what they say about you, Jesus wants to make sure that nothing limits God’s relationship with you. The kingdom of heaven is at hand and with Jesus you won’t need a second chance to make a good impression. God loves you and nothing will change that!
