Ordinary Time

Pause

Close your eyes and seek a total connection with God. Think of God and consider what you might receive in this moment.

Listen

Praise theĀ Lord!

Let my whole beingĀ praise theĀ Lord! I will praise the Lord with all my life; I will sing praises to my God as long as I live.

Psalm 146:1-2

Think

Puerto Rican singer Frankie Ruiz was well known in the salsa world in the 1980s. Unfortunately, his life was negatively impacted as a result of alcohol and drug abuse. He developed a serious illness, and his efforts to continue singing were limited. It was at that point that Frankie Ruiz recognized God and wanted to dedicate the remaining days of his life to praising God. In his last song, titled ā€œVuelvo a Nacerā€ (ā€œI Am Born Againā€), he thanks God for his life and shares that he is a new person with hope.

To praise even with our last breath, as the psalmist says, is to thank God in hope and trust no matter how long we have to live in this world. The illnesses and difficulties of life come. But may we never cease to have confidence in God. That way we will always be praising.

Question to Ponder:

How many breaths a day do you dedicate to praising God?

Pray

God, in this hour I praise you for who you are and what you have done in me. Just like Frankie Ruiz, I want to be born again every day to praise you and dedicate my last breath to you.

Amen.

Keep moving forward and never stop sharing what you have received from God.
