Ordinary Time
On your mark: You’re here. You showed up. That matters.
Get Set: Pause. Breathe. Let your heart catch up.
Be still for a moment. Let the Spirit move.
And listen for God’s truth.
Get your outside work done; make preparations in the field; then you can build your house.
Proverbs 24:27
Back in ancient Israel, people didn’t just pick a random spot and start building a house. That would’ve been a disaster. First, they had to figure out if the land could actually support life. Was there water? Could anything grow there? Because if the ground couldn’t sustain you, nothing you built would last.
Honestly, that hits pretty close to home. You’re already building a life—through your choices, your relationships, what you care about, what you spend your time on. And underneath it all is the same question: Will this hold me?
God isn’t asking you to have everything figured out. But God does care about the ground you’re building on: what’s shaping you, what’s feeding you, what’s quietly becoming your foundation.
So maybe the starting place is simple, even if it feels unfamiliar. Slow down a little. Get to know God better, not as an idea, but as someone real. Talk. Listen. Be curious. Over time, your life starts to root itself in something steady. Something that won’t disappear when everything else feels uncertain. And that’s the kind of ground that can actually hold you.

Question to Ponder:
What’s something in your life right now (friends, habits, goals, social media, etc.) that might be shaping you more than you realize?
God, sometimes I’m not sure what I’m building my life on. Help me slow down enough to notice where you are. Teach me what is true and steady, even when everything else feels uncertain. Help me to grow something good—real, deep, and lasting. Amen.
Go. You’re ready.
