Ordinary Time

Pause

On your mark: You’re here. You showed up. That matters.

Get Set: Pause. Breathe. Let your heart catch up.

Be still for a moment. Let the Spirit move.

And listen for God’s truth.

Listen

How great is the goodness that you’ve reserved for those who honor you, that you commit to those who take refuge in you—in the sight of everyone! You hide them in the shelter of your wings, safe from human scheming. You conceal them in a shelter, safe from accusing tongues.

All you who wait for the Lord, be strong and let your heart take courage.

Psalm 31:19-20, 24

Think

There are days when life feels loud. Stress, pressure, people, expectations—it can all pile up fast. And then there’s this quiet promise: God’s goodness is abundant. Not small. Not running out. Not just for other people—for you.

God is a shelter. A safe place. When storms hit, whether it’s hard situations or just heavy thoughts, you have somewhere real to go. Not to escape life, but to be held in it.

And here’s the most amazing part: that same goodness? It’s in you, too. God made you with it. Which means even when you feel off, tired, or not yourself, that goodness hasn’t disappeared.

Sometimes you just need to return to it. Go to God. Be still for a moment. Let yourself rest there. Let that goodness slowly settle back into your heart and mind.

And over time, people will notice. Not because you’re perfect, but because there’s something steady about you. Something peaceful. You’ve found a place to stand. And a place to be held.

Question to Ponder:

What do you think it means that God’s goodness is part of you?

Pray

God, thank you for your goodness that never runs out. When life feels heavy, help me come to you and find rest. Be my safe place. Remind me that your goodness is still in me, even when I don’t feel it. Let it fill my heart again. Amen.
