Ordinary Time

Pause

In athletics, on your mark” is the signal that precedes everything. Stop. Breathe. Get into position. God has something to say to you today. The race that matters is about to begin.

Listen

We have many parts in one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function. In the same way, though there are many of us, we are one body in Christ, and individually we belong to each other.

Romans 12:4-5

Think

Before a race, the nerves are real. Feet pound the track. Everyone waits for the starting sound. The heart beats faster. Adrenaline surges. That moment before the start can fill you with energy…or it can paralyze you if you start looking sideways and comparing yourself to others.

Social media has become a runway where everyone seems to run faster, jump higher, and go further than you. Sometimes a comment, a rejection, or a number of followers can make us forget who we are. And that comparison is exhausting. In our scripture for today, Paul says something simple but powerful: we are one body, with many parts. The foot cannot be frustrated because it is not a hand. The ear cannot feel less because it is not an eye.

You are part of the body of Christ. You are not a spare part. Your place on the team is already reserved. Stop looking at the track next to you. Run your own race.

Question to Ponder:

How does comparing yourself to others steal your peace?

Pray

God, help me to stop looking at what others have or achieve. Remind me today that I am part of your body and that my place in it is unique and irreplaceable. Amen.

Go

Go out today with purpose. Dont run alone. Run with the team God gave you, with the gifts God gave you, into the world God loves so much. On your mark, get set…go!
